The supply unit e.g. high voltage battery (56), has two power supply elements i.e. battery cells (70, 72), connected between a positive connection terminal (74) and a negative connection terminal (76), where the voltage provided by the supply unit is measurable between the connection terminals. The supply elements are electrically connected to each other by a connector (68) such that the voltages provided by the supply elements are add up. The connector is electrically connected to a ground potential (50) to form a reference potential for the supply unit. An independent claim is also included for a drive train of a motor car.
