An object of the present invention is to provide a silicon-bridged Cp-Ar transition metal complex that serves as a catalytic component capable of efficiently and highly selectively producing 1-hexene through the trimerization reaction of ethylene. A transition metal complex represented by formula (1), etc. wherein M represents a transition metal atom of Group 4 of the Periodic Table of the Elements; X1, X2, X3, R1, R2, R3, R4, R5, R6, R7, R8, and R9 each independently represent a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, an alkyl group having 1 to 20 carbon atoms which may have a halogen atom, an alkoxy group having 1 to 20 carbon atoms which may have a halogen atom, an aryl group having 6 to 20 carbon atoms which may have a halogen atom, an aryloxy group having 6 to 20 carbon atoms which may have a halogen atom, an aralkyl group having 7 to 20 carbon atoms which may have a halogen atom, an aralkyloxy group having 7 to 20 carbon atoms which may have a halogen atom, etc. |
