The present invention relates to the technical field of wireless communication. Disclosed are an uplink transmission method and device for a multi-carrier aggregation system, used for solving the problem of how to perform uplink transmission in a secondary cell when a base station adds a secondary cell to the configuration for a terminal. In the present invention, after the base station adds a secondary cell to the configuration for the terminal, the terminal selects a carrier from the downlink carriers as a timing reference downlink carrier corresponding to a cell that has already established downlink synchronization with the base station according to a preset reference carrier selection rule; and the terminal performs uplink transmission in the secondary cell according to the downlink timing of the timing reference downlink carrier. The present invention is capable of determining the timing reference downlink carrier used for performing uplink transmission in an secondary cell added to the configuration, and thereby performing uplink transmission according to the timing reference downlink carrier.
