Provided are biodegradable aliphatic polyester particles having (A) an average particle size of 5-500 µm, (B) the breaking stress of a tablet formed in a cylindrical die at a temperature of 40 °C and a load of 4 kgf/cm2 applied for one hour being no greater than 500 gf/cm2, and preferably (C) the breaking stress of a tablet formed in a cylindrical die at a temperature of 10°C higher than the glass transition temperature (Tg) of the biodegradable aliphatic polyester and a load of 4 kgf/cm2 applied for one hour being no greater than 2000 gf/cm2. Further provided are: a method for producing the biodegradable aliphatic polyester particles by treating, at a temperature that is at least the heating crystallization temperature (Tc1) of the biodegradable aliphatic polyester less 40°C, the particulate biodegradable aliphatic polyester obtained by means of pulverization at a temperature that is less than Tg; and the biodegradable aliphatic polyester particles obtained by the method of producing.
