<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a writing utensil configured such that a reversible thermal discoloration layer can be thermally discolored with easiness, and also visual amusingness is increased upon a screwing operation. <P>SOLUTION: The writing utensil includes: a shaft tube 2 comprising a front shaft 3 including a front end hole 31 and a tapered front end portion 32, and a rear shaft 4 screwed into the rear end portion of the front shaft 3; and writing bodies 6 stored in the shaft tube 2, each writing body including a writing tip 61 which projects outside the front end hole 31 of the front shaft 3. The reversible thermal discoloration layer 9 which can be thermally discolored when touched by fingers is provided on the surface of the tapered front end portion 32 of the front shaft 3.
