The apparatus has a filter element (1), by which the exhaust gas suctioned from the environment is guided, where the filter element has an outer wall (1.1) and a filter medium (1.2). A circumferential sealing element (1.3) is present at the raw gas- and clean gas sided front side of the wall. The filter element is sealed within the closed operative device by pressure force acting at the sealing element.
