The system has a drive unit (4) and a process module associated to zones of an inking unit. A process routine is implemented in the module and positions a drive motor i.e. stepper motor, based on control commands and/or targets supplied to the module by a control device. Another process routine is implemented in the module for automatically or semiautomatically determining a relative position between a position of the motor and a physical position of an ink blade (3) relative to an inking unit roller (2) i.e. ductor roller. The routines are designed as a program or an electronic circuit.
