Digested esparto &c. straw, waste paper, or wood pulp is fed at 3 into a cylindrical casing 2 with a sump 5 for trash, &c. and is disintegrated between blades 4 fixed to the casing 2 and blades 9 on a shaft 6 rotated at e.g. 1,500 to 3,000 r.p.m., which propel it towards an outlet 12 in a compartment 10 having a water-tight connexion with the casing 2 and which is adjustable radially by a handwheel 17 and gearing 14, 15, to vary the height of the outlet 12.</p> |
