<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a semiconductor laser drive device having gradation reproducibility at low density, and to provide an image forming apparatus with the same. <P>SOLUTION: The semiconductor laser drive device for driving the semiconductor laser includes: a drive current generation unit that generates a drive current for causing the semiconductor laser to emit light according to an input signal; a drive support current generating unit that generates a drive support current for supporting the drive current during an initial period when the drive current the drive current generating unit generates is on; a storage unit that stores an application time of the drive auxiliary current for controlling the ratio between an integral light quantity obtained from output characteristics of the semiconductor laser and a target value of the integral light quantity, or drive data indicative of a current amount; and a drive unit that drives the drive auxiliary current generating unit based on the drive data stored in the storage unit. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
