<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ceramic metal halide lamp which can be turned on by a stabilizer without a pulse generator, exhibits higher efficiency than high pressure mercury and high pressure sodium lamps, and gives natural tints of color. <P>SOLUTION: A ceramic metal halide lamp 10 has an arc tube 4 and which can be turned on by a stabilizer without a pulse generator. The additive composition of the arc tube includes, in addition to a prescribed amount of mercury, at least thulium iodide (TmI<SB POS="POST">3</SB>), cerium iodide (CeI<SB POS="POST">3</SB>), thallium iodide (TlI) and sodium iodide (NaI), and is stipulated by a relative amount where a total amount of (TmI<SB POS="POST">3</SB>), dysprosium iodide (DyI<SB POS="POST">3</SB>) and holmium iodide (HoI<SB POS="POST">3</SB>) is assumed to be 100 wt.%. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
