<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a passenger conveyor including an apparatus which has simple structure and, for the purpose of safe operation of the passenger conveyor, surely monitors rushing up or down of a passenger on the passenger conveyor and performs operation such as promoting the passenger to pay attention when determining that the conveyor is in a dangerous operation. <P>SOLUTION: The passenger conveyor includes two sensors 1a and 1b in a skirt guard 3 near a middle slope part. The sensors 1a and 1b are arranged side by side toward a tread 4 side and detect a passenger 5 on the tread 4. The motion of the passenger 5 is determined by comparing a detection time difference between the two sensors 1a and 1b with the rated speed of an escalator. When faster than the rated speed, rushing up or down is determined to announce a warning. When slower than the rated speed, reverse running of the passenger 5 or the passenger conveyor is determined, and the operation of announcing a warning or stopping the escalator is carried out. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
