<p>This artificial lung includes: a housing; a hollow fiber membrane layer that is housed inside the housing and in which a multitude of hollow fiber membranes (31) having a gas exchange function are integrated; a gas inflow section and a gas outflow section that employ the lumen of each hollow fiber membrane (31) as a gas flow path and that are provided respectively on the upstream side and the downstream side of the gas flow paths; and a blood inflow section and a blood outflow section that employ the outside of the hollow fiber membranes (31) as a blood flow path and that are provided respectively on the upstream side and the downstream side of the blood flow path. The hollow fiber membranes (31) of the hollow fiber membrane layer are fixed to one another at one end and the other end thereof. The average separation distance (e [µm]) between adjacent hollow fiber membranes (31) in the fixed section of the hollow fiber membrane layer is 30=e=60, and the outer diameter (OD [µm]) of each hollow fiber membrane (31) is OD=4.5×e.</p> |
