PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a terahertz radio communication system capable of transmitting and receiving a terahertz signal by amplitude transition modulation.

SOLUTION: A terahertz radio communication system comprises: a terahertz transmitter 100 comprising a terahertz oscillation element 38; and a terahertz receiver 200 comprising a terahertz detection element 44. The terahertz oscillation element 38 emits a terahertz electromagnetic wave by amplitude transition modulation having an operation point in a negative differential resistance region (NDR), and the terahertz detection element 44 detects the terahertz electromagnetic wave emitted by the terahertz oscillation element 38.
