<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable terminal which can be remotely operated while maintaining high security. <P>SOLUTION: A portable terminal comprises: a storage unit for storing authentication data for authenticating another communication terminal which is a proper communication partner; a mail reception unit for receiving an e-mail to which image data is attached; an image collation unit for collating the received image data with the authentication data stored in the storage unit; and a control unit for, when the image data matches the authentication data, executing an operation command based on information provided in the e-mail.
