PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To establish a novel catalyst processing technique which can achieve both resource saving and product cost reduction by processing a used ceramic member that carries a noble metal.

SOLUTION: The method for processing the used ceramic member that carries the noble metal includes: an introduction step of introducing the used ceramic member in an unground state together with a medium containing hydrochloric acid and nitric acid into a pressure container; a hydrothermal treatment step of sealing the pressure container and heating it; and a recovery step of recovering the processed used ceramic member and a liquid component containing the noble metal from the pressure container after cooling.
