<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To securely monitor performance of electrical devices connected to a utility meter, and optimize performance and consumption of services. <P>SOLUTION: A monitoring system (100, 200) for an electrical device (120, 232, 234) includes a utility meter (110) connected to the electrical device (120, 232, 234), and a computing device (124) disposed within the utility meter (110).
