<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for processing a metal, which forms a path having a complicated shape inside a metallic material in a short time. <P>SOLUTION: The method for processing a metal forms the path penetrating through the metallic material from one end to the other end of the metallic material inside the metallic material. The method for processing a metal includes: a first step of forming a through hole 8 for communicating the one end with the other end of the metallic material with respect to a range to be formed with the path; a second step of forming an electrical insulation layer that covers part of the inner surface of the through hole 8; a third step of inserting an electrical discharge wire W1 through the through hole 8 in which the electrical insulation layer is provided; and a fourth step of energizing the electrical discharge wire W1 to discharge an electrical current between the electrical discharge wire W1 and a non-insulation part 9 where the electrical insulation layer is absent in the inner surface of the through hole 8, to process the non-insulation part 9. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
