The channel has a front side that is formed by a portion of a rear side of a functional unit (30) in an installed position of an electrical switch (100) such that a cross section of the channel is formed from portions of pole cartridges (10, 20) and the rear side of the functional unit. The functional unit is partially located in front of the pole cartridges and provided with a front side and side surfaces in the installed position. The function unit is designed as a thermal magnetic trip unit, an electronic trip unit and a function unit of a load circuit breaker.
