DEACTIVATION OF XDSL UNUSED PORTS

The disclosure relates to a method for reducing power consumption of a multiplexer-dispatcher device, the method comprising, for a downstream port of the multiplexer-dispatcher device, obtaining at least one of the administrative status of the port, the operational status of the port, and the service configuration status for the port. The method further comprises shutting down the port if the three following conditions are cumulatively met: the administrative status of the port is: port enabled, the operational status of the port is: port disconnected, and there is no configured service. The disclosure also relates to a computer program, a storage medium, a multiplexer-dispatcher device, a computer and a system comprising a multiplexer-dispatcher device and a computer.
