摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for driving a liquid crystal display device, by which a color of a background part of a liquid crystal display device having a segment display part and the background part can be changed. <P>SOLUTION: Light of an LED 38 made incident to the inside of a light guiding plate 36 of a first backlight 20 is scattered by a light scattering layer 40 that is formed at a position corresponding to a segment display part 14 to have the same shape as the segment display part 14, and light having the same shape as the segment display part 14 is made incident to a liquid crystal display panel 18. LEDs 44R, 44G, 44B for emitting light of R, G, B in a second backlight 22 are selectively turned on, the light of the LEDs 44R, 44G, 44B made incident to the inside of a light guiding plate 42 of the second backlight 22 is scattered by a light scattering layer 46 that is formed at a position corresponding to a background part 16 to have the same shape as the background part 16, and light having the same shape as the background part 16 is made incident to the liquid crystal display panel 18.
