<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a card collecting structure for a settlement machine which has a simple structure, stably collects cards at low cost, and reliably collects cards. <P>SOLUTION: The card collecting structure for a settlement machine 1 collects cards A discharged from a card processing unit 6 and freely falling in a card collecting box 7. The card collecting box 7 has an internal part formed into a regular octagonal shape when viewed from above, and the widthwise length W<SB POS="POST">1</SB>of a wall portion 7a forming one side of the regular octagonal shape is set to a length less than the length of a short side L<SB POS="POST">1</SB>of the card A. A space formed between the wall portions 7a in the card collecting box 7 and the corner parts of the cards A piled up in the card collecting box 7, is reduced, and the card A discharged from the card processing unit 6 is prevented from being caught in the space.
