<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable home energy conservation. <P>SOLUTION: Home occupancy by an entity detected by a utility meter 108 provided in a house is used for controlling and/or adjusting operation of energy consuming devices based, at least partially, on the state of home occupancy. Home occupancy detection is based on signals received from devices generally associated with the entities that may from time to time occupy the home.
