<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rack and pinion type steering appratus in which a rack guide smoothly moves in an axial direction by suppressing the inclination of the rack guide. <P>SOLUTION: The rack and pinion type steering apparatus is configured in such a manner that a pinion shaft 30 is rotatably supported by a gear housing 11, a rack shaft 40 meshed with the pinion shaft 30 is inserted into the insertion hole of the gear housing 11, a rack guide 50 for pressing the rack shaft 40 to the pinion shaft 30 from behind at the side opposite from the pinion shaft 30 is fitted by insertion in the guide hole 13 of the gear housing 11 so as to be movable in an axial direction, a cap 51 closing the guide hole 13 is provided, and elastic members 53 which energize the rack guide 50 to the rack shaft 40 side are interposed between the cap 51 and the rack guide 50. In the rack and pinion type steering apparatus, the elastic members 53 are arranged at both tooth-thickness-direction sides of the rack shaft 40 with the axis of the rack guide 50 interposed between the elastic members. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
