The intercooling system has an intercooler that is provided in an intake pipe (2) of an engine (3), where the shape of the intercooler is selected such that a greatest possible upper surface is created in the interior for cooling. The intercooler is formed as a heat exchanger (1). The intercooler is passed through from a cooling water (6) which is removed wither from an engine cooling circuit (4) or a separated cooling circuit (5).
