摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a catalyst applied to a reaction layer of a structure (PPF type) in which a hydrophilic functional group of a side chain of a polyelectrolyte is oriented on a catalyst side so as to form a hydrophilic layer on the catalyst, and to reduce usage of metal particles of the catalyst. <P>SOLUTION: A manufacturing method of a catalyst for fuel cells includes: a step of preparing a material catalyst containing catalyst metal particles carried by a carrier; a step of creating a material catalyst slurry by mixing the material catalyst with water; and a step of modifying the catalyst metal particles of the material catalyst with a hydrophilic group. The step of modifying the catalyst metal particles of the material catalyst transports the material catalyst slurry through a pipeline and adds an aqueous solution containing the hydrophilic group to the material catalyst slurry being transported for mixing. For example, a platinum particle is usable as the catalyst material particle, a nitric acid group is usable as the hydrophilic group, and a nitric acid solution of hexahydroxoplatinic acid is usable as the aqueous solution containing the nitric acid group. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT
