<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic timepiece which performs the time display different from the ordinary time display even in a display mode in which power consumption is suppressed, and does not lose a function as the timepiece. <P>SOLUTION: The electronic timepiece includes: power supply voltage detection means 31 which detects a voltage of a power supply; a time counting means 13 which counts the time; a display means 10 having memory properties; and a control means 14 which controls display of the display means. The control means performs switching control of the display mode of the display means in which a first mode for performing the ordinary display and a second mode having longer update interval of the display than the first mode are alternately switched. In the first mode, the display means is made to display the time, and the switching control from the first mode to the second mode is performed when a voltage value detected by the power supply voltage detection means is less than a predetermined value in the first mode.
