PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the crack of a diffraction optical element.

SOLUTION: A diffraction optical element 10 includes a diffraction face 13. On the diffraction face 13, a convex part 15a and a concave part 15b are alternately formed. The shape of a valley bottom 15c of the concave part 15b is different depending on the region of the diffraction face 13.
