A cooling apparatus (1) that cools an HV device (31) includes: a compressor (12) that circulates a refrigerant; a heat exchanger (14) that performs heat exchange between the refrigerant and outside air; an expansion valve (16) that reduces a pressure of the refrigerant; a heat exchanger (18) that performs heat exchange between the refrigerant and air-conditioning air; a cooling unit (30) provided on a path of the refrigerant flowing between the heat exchanger (14) and the heat exchanger (18) via the expansion valve (16) in order to cool the HV device (31) by using the refrigerant; and a four- way valve (28) that switches between a refrigerant flow from the compressor (12) to the heat exchanger (14) and a refrigerant flow from the compressor (12) to the heat exchanger (18).
