The purpose of the present invention is to provide a compact absolute encoder device that is readily assembled and capable of achieving high resolution. The present invention is an encoder device (1) provided with a permanent magnet (4) having a first magnetic pattern (14)(bipolar) and a second magnetic pattern (16)(multipolar), a first magnetic sensor (5) for detecting a magnetic field of the first magnetic pattern (14), a second magnetic sensor (6) for detecting a magnetic field of the second magnetic pattern (16), and a signal-processing circuit (7) for calculating the absolute rotation angle of a rotating shaft (2) from a signal outputted by the first and second magnetic sensors (5, 6). The first and second magnetic sensors (5, 6) and the signal-processing circuit (7) are secured to a single substrate (8). The first magnetic pattern (14) is formed on a plane extending, in the direction intersecting with the shaft direction, in the interior of the permanent magnet (4); and the second magnetic pattern (16) is formed on an outer peripheral surface of the permanent magnet (4). |
