The method involves securing a sealing body (12) of a housing wall (3) to an interior (14) of a housing (2) of a submersible pump, where the sealing body includes a sealing lip (15) having a thickness less than one quarter of wall thickness of the sealing body. A cable (6) having excess length is introduced in the interior of the housing so that edge of the sealing lip is pulled out along pull-out direction, where the sealing lip is bent into the interior of the sealing body so as to prevent pulling of the cable and allow connection of the cable to electrical contacts in the housing. An independent claim is also included for an electric appliance.
