<p>Provided is an organic EL display element having more uniform film thickness of an organic material in a light emitting region. The organic EL display element is provided with: a substrate; a first electrode formed on the substrate; a first insulating layer, which is formed at least on the circumferential edge and the periphery of the first electrode, and demarcates, on the first electrode, a region of a first opening that corresponds to a light emitting region of a pixel; a second insulating layer, which forms a second opening such that the second opening surrounds the outer circumference of the first opening, said second opening being on the further outer circumferential side than a first insulating layer portion formed at the circumferential edge of the first electrode; a light emitting medium layer, which is formed in the second opening, and includes an organic light emitting layer and one or more wet coat layers formed using a wet coating method; and a second electrode, which is formed, with respect to the second opening, so as to face the first electrode by sandwiching the light emitting medium layer between the first electrode and the second electrode. The film thickness of the first insulating layer formed on the first electrode is less than the film thickness of the first wet coat layer formed closest to the first electrode among the wet coat layers, and is also less than the film thickness of the first electrode.</p> |
