<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform discrete cosine transformation processing and discrete sine transformation processing simultaneously by a small number of calculations. <P>SOLUTION: A DCT/DST processing part 31 of an orthogonal transformation part 3 shares a part of the product-sum operation in performing DCT and DST separately when performing orthogonal transformation processing of the DCT and the DST. Specifically, the DCT/DST processing part 31 performs the product-sum operation of a first stage to incoming signals x0 to x3 in the case of N=4, performs the product-sum operation of a second stage by using the result of the product-sum operation of the first stage, and produces DCT coefficients C0 to C3 and DST coefficients S0 to S3 which are the result of the product-sum operation of the second stage. In this case, the result of the product-sum operation of the first stage is used for the product-sum operation of the second stage as a common result for producing the DCT coefficients C0 to C3 and the DST coefficients S0 to S3. Thereby, the DCT/DST processing can be made common and the number of calculations can be reduced as compared with conventional methods. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
