<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid-state biological phantom which extremely reduces characteristic non-uniformity, variation and aging and enables long-term preservation, transportation, device calibration and performance evaluation. <P>SOLUTION: When using an image of an examination specimen in a prepared specimen (1) captured via a microscope objective lens and via imaging means and predetermined optical characteristics obtained from that image to evaluate a performance of the microscope objective lens, a biological phantom (4) is used as the examination specimen in the prepared specimen (1).
