COMPOSITION HAVING EFFECT ON PREVENTION AND TREATMENT OF DRY EYE SYNDROME

PURPOSE: A composition containing chitin-derived carboxymethyl chitosan is provided to suppress inflammation and apoptosis after xeroma and to promote goblet cell regeneration. CONSTITUTION: A composition for preventing and treating xeroma contaisn carboxymethyl chitosan(CMC) as an active ingredient. The CMC is a polysaccharide derived from chitin. The composition enhances the thickness of the conjunctiva and cornea and reduces the number of inflammatory cells. A pharmaceutical composition for preventing and treating xeroma contains the composition containing CMC. A composition is a topical application formulation such as eye drops, ointment, gel, or lotion.
