<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent troubles such as damage on optical components or the like within an apparatus caused by an operation by a user unfamiliar with handling the apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: A reciprocation mechanism for reciprocating a movable body 12 between a storage position and a usage position, provided so as to be taken in and out of a housing 11 has a first rack 101, and a first gear 102 engaged therewith and driven by a motor 66. A rotation mechanism for rotating an optical engine unit 13 between an initial position and a projection position has a drive member 103 for rotating the optical engine unit, a second rack 104 integrally provided with the drive member 103, and a second gear 105 engaged with the second rack and driven by a motor interlocking with the first gear.
