<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a porous carbon having an extremely high specific surface area and a low specific resistance. <P>SOLUTION: The porous carbon includes a mesopore and a carbonaceous wall which constitutes the contour of the mesopore, wherein the specific resistance is 1.0×10<SP POS="POST">2</SP>Ω cm or less. Further, the carbonaceous wall preferably forms a three-dimensional network structure and preferably has a specific surface area of 200 m<SP POS="POST">2</SP>/g or more and 1,500 m<SP POS="POST">2</SP>/g or less.
