<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a separation and refinement process for removing N<SB POS="POST">2</SB>O as an impurity, in a separation and refinement process for carrying out separation and refinement of at least one of xenon and krypton from raw material air. <P>SOLUTION: The separation and refinement process includes steps of: separating raw material air into nitrogen and liquid oxygen, and enriching at least one of xenon and krypton contained in the raw material air in the liquid oxygen; producing oxygen by vaporizing the liquid oxygen; oxidizing hydrocarbons contained in the oxygen using a palladium catalyst; thermally decomposing N<SB POS="POST">2</SB>O contained in the oxygen at a reaction temperature of 350°C or higher using a palladium catalyst; removing the moisture vapor and the carbon dioxide by means of adsorption; and separating xenon and/or krypton from the oxygen. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
