<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect leak in an inner piper or an outer pipe of a double heat transfer tube at an early stage without fail by preventing hydrogen from entering the outside of the outer tube of the double heat transfer tube of a steam generator. <P>SOLUTION: A leak detection system for the steam generator 1 includes: a water supply nozzle 4; a main steam nozzle 5; a sodium inlet nozzle 6; a sodium outlet nozzle 7; the double heat transfer tube 2 consisting of the inner tube 2a and the outer tube 2b, and provided between the inner and outer tubes with a gap 2c through which an inert gas flows; a lower part gas plenum 10b provided downstream of the water supply nozzle 4, and for supplying the inert gas to the gap 2c; and an upper part gas plenum 10a provided upstream of a main steam nozzle 5, and from which the inert gas from the gap is discharged. The upper part gas plenum 10a composes an upper part inert gas system 20a with a pressure gauge 22a and an inert gas supply/discharge part 23a.
