An endoscope device (1) comprises: a light source unit (24) for emitting light having different polarization characteristics in at least two wavelength bands; an illumination fiber (14) having one end disposed at the tip end of an insertion unit (11) inserted into a subject to guide light from the light source unit (24); a driver unit (25) for scanning one end of the illumination fiber (14); detection fibers (16a, 16b) that are positioned at a tip end part (12) and receive return light from the subject; and polarization filters (17a, 17b) that are positioned between the subject and the detection fibers (16a, 16b) to polarize the return light in the desired polarization direction.
