Producing iridium complex compound (I) comprises reacting tris(2,2,6,6-tetramethyl-3,5-heptanedionate)iridium(III), iridium complex (II) and a keto compound (III). Producing an iridium complex compound of formula (I) comprises reacting tris(2,2,6,6-tetramethyl-3,5-heptanedionate)iridium(III), iridium complex of formula (II) and a keto compound of formula (R 1>-C(=O)-CH(R 3>)-C(=O)-(R 2>)) (III).
