<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small and low cost evaluation device without accuracy degradation. <P>SOLUTION: A polarization multiplexed phase modulated light evaluation device includes a step (S1) in which a polarization multiplexed phase modulated light signal is converted to intensity modulated light the intensity of which varies according to a phase change between symbols, a step (S2) in which the obtained intensity modulated light is separated into first polarization axis component light aligned to a first polarization axis as a separation reference and second polarization axis component light aligned to a second polarization axis orthogonal to the first polarization axis, a step (S3) in which polarization directions of polarization components of the light signal are aligned to the first polarization axis and the second polarization axis respectively by controlling a direction of incidence polarization of the light signal to maximize a component of the differential intensity between the separated first polarization axis component and the second polarization axis component, a step (S4) in which the light signal is separated into each of the polarization components and is converted to intensity modulated light the intensity of which is varied according to a phase change between symbols, a step (S5) in which the obtained intensity modulated light for each polarization component is sampled, and a step (S6) a quality evaluation of the light signal is performed based on the sampled data. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
