<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a base station system, a radio control unit, and a communication control method that can share radio resources at radio units among common carriers. <P>SOLUTION: A base station system includes multiple pieces of radio equipment (RE) 20 each of which is provided for each common carrier and a radio equipment control (REC) 10. The REC 10 transmits a free carrier resource inquiry message to inquire a situation of free carrier resource at the RE 20 of a second common carrier placed in the vicinity of the RE 20 of a first common carrier.
