The charging device has one coil (11) that is arranged inside a motor vehicle (1), and another coil (12) that is arranged outside the motor vehicle. The coils are inductively coupled with each other, for electrically charging an electrical energy storage device (2) of the motor vehicle. The coil (11) is arranged in a lower base region (10) of the motor vehicle. The coil (12) is arranged at a garage base (8) on which the motor vehicle is capable of being halted.
