The present invention provides an optical information recording medium (10) having a plurality of recording layers (14) and interlayers (15) respectively interposed between the plurality of recording layers (14). Each recording layer (14) has a polymer binder and a pigment diffused in the polymer binder, and the pigment causes multiphoton absorption of a recording beam (RB) having a given wavelength while causing linear absorption, which is 1.5% or more for each recording layer with the given wavelength of the recording beam. When heat is generated by the pigment causing linear absorption and multiphoton absorption of the recording beam (RB) in response to the irradiation of the recording beam, the optical information recording medium (10) records information due to the polymer binder being deformed by the generated heat thus causing deformation in the boundary face between the recording layer (14) and the interlayer.
