摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrophoretic display device or the like that prevents electrophoretic particles at high temperature from adhering and executes a display with high contrast. <P>SOLUTION: An electrophoretic display device includes: displaying means 3; temperature detecting means 41 and 42 for detecting use environmental temperature; and controlling means 60 for controlling a display of the displaying means 3. The controlling means 60 switches among display modes of the displaying means 3, more specifically among a first mode for executing a normal display, a second mode for executing a high temperature alarm display and a third mode for alternately executing mono-color displays of a first color and a second color. In the case where the use environmental temperature detected by the temperature detecting means 41 and 42 during the first mode is not less than a threshold temperature, the controlling means 60 switches from the first mode to the second mode. After a predetermined time period has elapsed since the display mode was switched to the second mode, the controlling means 60 switches from the second mode to the third mode.
