Provided is an inverter that can be miniaturized overall. The inverter is provided with a plurality of switching elements (14) that convert power between DC power and AC power, a base plate (11) on which the switching elements (14) are mounted, AC terminals (25) that input and output AC power, and capacitors (31) for smoothing DC power. In a plan view, the AC terminals (25) are positioned in such a manner as to protrude from the base plate (11) in a first reference direction (X), and the capacitors (31) are positioned in a capacitor positioning region (R1) which is configured in a rectangular shape in a plan view. The capacitor positioning region (R1) is configured in such a manner that the long sides are parallel to the first reference direction (X), and is further configured adjacent to a base positioning region (R2), in which the base plate (11) and the AC terminals (25) are positioned, in a second reference direction (Y). |
