The method involves alternately detecting fabric frames followed by a needle frame at different angles with certain time spacing in order to form a frame sequence (1), so that the frame sequence is spatially compounded (2). Image frames resulting from the compounded frame sequence are output (3). A number of sequential frames are successively selected within the frame sequence, so that an average value is calculated from values of the sequential frames at a same position. The sequential frames are comprised of multiple fabric frames and needle frames. An independent claim is also included for a device for visualizing a needle for an ultrasound imaging apparatus.
