The invention relates to a mobile telephony repeater (30, 430) configured to provide service to at least one mobile terminal. Said repeater comprises: a radio modem configured to be connected to a cell (39) of a mobile telephony network and to receive the identifier of the cell from said cell (39); means for detecting an uplink (UL) call; means for activating/deactivating the radio uplink, configured to: activate the radio uplink when an uplink (UL) call is detected and to deactivate said radio uplink when an uplink (UL) call is not detected. The repeater is preferably an in-home repeater. The invention also relates to a method for the provision of a service in a mobile telephony network and to a system for the provision of a service in a mobile telephony network.
