The device has an illumination spectral filter arranged in an illumination path in a white-light mode and in a fluorescence mode. Filter characteristic of the filter is matched to filter characteristic of an observation spectral filter (48) such that a target region is illuminated with a spectral range of a white light with exception of a spectral range of fluorescence to be observed. A beam splitter (54) is arranged in an observation path (36), and divides the observation path into two sub-paths (56, 58), where light is directed on image sensors (44, 46) along the respective sub-paths.
