A system (6) is provided for acknowledging to a first (insecure) network that a message has been transmitted to a second (secure) network through a unidirectional communication channel (10, 24). An input (12) receives the message from a host interface (8) of the first network. A copy of the message is sent over a transmit-only connection (14) to an output (16) which sends the message to the second network via a host interface (26). The two copies of the message are processed by respective processors (18, 20) and compared (e.g. bit-wise) by a comparator (28). If the messages match, the input (12) sends an acknowledgment to the insecure network via the interface (8). In this way data flow from the output (16) to the input is prevented. A counter (30) records the number of messages processed. |
